The favoured Alexa-backed device is a lot cheaper in Amazon's new Summer Sale
Amazon 's Echo Dot speaker can do just about anything around the house, play music, scour the internet, give weather updates, and even set an alarm for you, so it's no surprise that plenty of UK homes will have them plugged in.
The newest 5th Generation Echo Dot is now £25 cheaper to buy as the Prime Retailer cut the price to just shy of £30, officially the cheapest price so far during the whole of 2024. The only time it was cheaper was back during Black Friday's mega sale bonanza where CamelCamelCamel shows it dropped down to £21.99, not its current £29.99.
The tap sensor feature can be used to pause and play music by patting the top of the round device, along with the usual 'Alexa stop' command. The Echo Dot Gen 5 model comes with improved audio, aimed for deeper bass, vibrant sounds and clearer vocals - similar features of the Google Nest Mini 2. They went on to say that the device can "fill a room with ease". A second happy shopper recommended the device after they switched from the older 2nd Gen Echo Dot and the tablet-like Echo Show 8: "The sound is louder and brassier than the previous version and the addition of a built-in temperature sensor is handy. Performance is great, its snappy and never fails to pick up my voice.
