Fans of two of South Africa’s heavyweight entertainers, Jabulani “Sjava” Hadebe and Siyabonga “Big Zulu” Nene, are in for a treat as the pair announced a joint project. The two giants are set to release their once-off body of work, called Ukhamba, in May

The project will be released under Warner Music Africa in partnership with Hadebe's and Nene's record labels, 1020 Cartel and Nkabi Records, respectively.

Together they call themselves Inkabi Zezwe, which describes a unified brotherhood. The two said the nation needed this collaboration, and they decided to give people what they wanted. When actor Muzi Mthabela, who hosted their launch at the World of Yamaha, asked the Zulu musicians what made them decide to work together, Hadebe said “it was time”.

“Unity makes a huge difference from working individually. When we are holding each other’s hands, like our logo, you can see that we can achieve more and relay a greater message to the people. People do not like it when we come together because they expect animosity and we also need to remember that we live in the last days. You can see a person today and tomorrow they are gone; thus it is important to unite and show love all the time,” said Nene.

The 10-track album will offer a variety of sounds and messages. There is one that talks about appreciating the home one hails from, even though you do not have the power to renovate. There is also a track called Sayona, a love song that speaks about a couple who ruined a good thing. And Uthando Lunye which encourages love and support among black people, that we should celebrate those who do well, instead of killing them. One of the tracks will be titled after the duo's name, Inkabi Zezwe.

South Africa on Alert as Protesters Embark on National ShutdownSouth Africa on Alert as Protesters Embark on National ShutdownProtests planned by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) across the nation have prompted law enforcement to be on high alert. Some officers clashed with demonstrators on the evening ahead of the National Shutdown, according to Scrolla. This comes after a judgment by the Gauteng High Court which interdicted the EFF from "violating the rights of South Africans to work school, and trade, by any means of intimidation, violence, or coercion, on the party's planned national shutdown". Preparation by the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure saw efforts to heighten police visibility in response. Meanwhile, the SA National Taxi Council refused to participate in the national shutdown as participation would cost the U.S.$3.2 billion industry a loss of industry of over U.S.$8.1 million for one day. In the days leading up to the action, EFF leader Julius Malema said that only President Cyril Ramaphosa's resignation could prevent the planned national shutdown. The opposition party voiced its intention to mobilise hundreds of its members, along with citizens, in their demand for an end to load shedding. The EFF called on businesses and factories across the country to close on the day of the action in order to "avoid the looting".
