Viewers who have been watching the controversial HBO show “The Idol” expressed confusion, after it was announced that the upcoming fifth episode will be the end of Season 1.

However, at the time of that report, Amy Seimetz was supposed to direct all six episodes and Joe Epstein was going to be the series showrunner.

So, somewhere in that shuffling behind the scenes, as the plans for the creatives in charge of “The Idol,” changed, so did the episode count, according toWhen the Post reached out to HBO for comment, a source confirmed that when Levinson took over following that behind-the-scenes shuffle, the story ended up only ‘requiring’ 5 episodes after he made changes.
“The Idol” will have its Season 1 finale on Sunday, July 2 . HBO has not announced if it’s been renewed for a Season 2.
