Kids are reportedly crying at the busy airport
A family looking to head to Tenerife are among those caught up in the huge delays triggered by 'technical issues' affecting UK air traffic control. The holidaymakers say East Midlands Airport is 'packed' with passengers waiting to find out just how long they will be waiting.
In among those passengers looking to fly from the UK is StokeonTrentLive reporter Flora Byatt, who is at East Midlands Airport with mum Annabel Stoddard, aged 49, and her seven-year-old brother Ted Nixon. The family had been due to get on a Jet2 flight to Tenerife at 3.25pm. Flora added: "It's my brother's first time abroad and he's already anxious. It's our first holiday as a family.
"Please check the status of your flight with your airline and arrive at the airport at the time they advise. We will provide further updates as soon as possible."
