Metzger's, a beloved Mobile clothing store known for its furs and apparel, is closing after serving the community for over a century. The third-generation family business is shutting its doors due to the owner's retirement.
A beloved local clothing store is closing its doors after serving the people of Mobile for more than 105 years.
“Meeting all these people, seeing them day to day, is what it is all about. You get a smile, a handshake, and a hug. It is just priceless,” said president and owner of Metzger’s, Ken Metzger.“My grandfather and his brother started it in 1919. My father came back from World War II and went into business, along with his cousin, Leonard. I came in after working for Macy’s for some time back in 1980,” he said.
