The family of a woman killed after attending the Capitol Hill Block Party in 2023 is now suing the organizers of the event for failing to disperse the crowd.

The lawsuit also states the event organizers, security, and staff “failed to disperse the crowd from the event or move barriers so the crowd could disperse more easily.”Independent Event Solutions LLC is named in the suit and KOMO News reached out to organizers for the event to see if any security changes would happen in light of last year’s tragedy.
Event organizers also shared they re-examine their security measures each year and are working with SPD to enhance safety at the even, including adding more personnel onsite during festival hours and extending after the festival concludes each day.
