One family is looking for changes to be made in Hays County after their loved one was killed last weekend trying to cross the highway. Elizabeth Garcia says her

Garcia says Shears and the person he was with, like many others, parked across Buck’s Backyard out along FM 1626 highway Saturday night. But when Shears tried crossing the street, he was “Sometimes the parking lot is so full and they charge excess fees to park here,” she said. So the majority of the people park along the side of the highway.”Garcia feels the venue didn’t do enough to announce on-site parking – which led to Shears making that dangerous trek across the highway.The aunt also feels there’s confusion when it comes to the extra parking offered on-site.
Garcia says the family is also demanding law enforcement be on hand for major events to control traffic in the area.
