The Vance County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, stating there were no signs of foul play and that Magee purchased the rope used around his neck at a local Walmart.

Javion Magee, 21, a truck driver from the Chicago area, was found dead on Sept. 11 in a rural area of Henderson not far from his truck and leaning with his back up against a tree and a rope around his neck, according to details from the Vance County Sheriff's Office received bySheriff Curtis Brame told WTVD their office was investigating and that there were no signs of foul play adding Magee went to a nearby Walmart before his death to buy the rope found around his neck.
Brame said a preliminary autopsy revealed no obvious signs of defensive wounds or scars on his arms and legs but did detect hemorrhaging around the soft part of Magee's neck. The sheriff's office released surveillance footage Monday of Magee buying utility rope from the self-checkout lane at the Henderson Walmart. He is then seen walking out of the store with the rope in his hand.
A video from Magee's cousin has gained traction on TikTok bringing attention to the tragedy with her claiming officials are "giving them a hard time.""The family to the medical examiner in regard to the preliminary results... Based on the information provided, the family still suspects foul play due to there nothing under his fingernails or hands.... He did have a broken neck with blood around the neck which came from the hanging....
