Family 'in shock' after man accused of impregnating, running over 13-year-old girl

The girl's mother told WRAL that she had been in a relationship with the man for four years prior to the incident, but was not aware that her daughter was being abused.

A family is"still in shock" after a man was arrested for allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old girl and trying to run her over with a car.

Eduardo G. Rubio, 26, was apprehended in Fayetteville, North Carolina, on November 12 following an alleged violent assault on the girl,Rubio and the teen reportedly got into an altercation, with the man allegedly strangling the girl until she fell unconscious and attempting to hit her with a vehicle.

The girl, whose name has not been released to the public, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for treatment. Authorities first honed in on Rubio last week while searching for the 13-year-old, who had gone missing at the time, Law & Crime reported. It is unknown how long she had disappeared or what evidence pointed towards Rubio. It was during this search that the FayettevilleThe girl's mother told WRAL that she had been in a relationship with Rubio for four years prior to this incident, but was not aware that her daughter was being abused.

The teen reportedly told investigators that Rubio had been abusing her for roughly two-and-a-half years since she was 11.Rubio was reportedly aware of the teen's pregnancy. In October, he allegedly used his own urine to dupe a pregnancy test that the victim was given during a medical exam, Law & Crime reported.
