Places in Lancashire open on bank holiday Monday to take kids for quiet reflection
Hundreds of venues, schools, businesses, retail outlets and tourist attractions across Lancashire will be closing on Monday as the world takes time to reflect on the life of The Queen, during her state funeral.
With swathes of the country grinding to a halt, including many public services pausing for either the duration of the funeral or the whole day, families may be keen to head outdoors and use the day to either engage in quiet reflection together or make the most of the unexpected time off work and school.Many public parks have opted to close their gates, however a number of locations will be open and ready to welcome visitors on Monday.
Dig out your bucket and spades, kites and beach games and head to one of Lancashire's famous beaches, whether it be Fleetwood, Lytham or Blackpool on the Fylde Coast or Morecambe further north, to catch a glimpse of the Eric Morecambe statue. A number of parks and outdoor spaces in West Lancashire will be available to explore as they have public rights of way running through them and will only ever close if "there are hazards/danger to life that force us to prevent access for public safety". They include Fairy Glen in Parbold, Ruff Woods in Ormskirk, and Beacon Country Park in Up Holland.
