Live music, stalls, workshops and bike rides will takeover the park this Sunday
Merseyside residents are being encouraged to ditch their cars and find environmentally friendly methods of getting around as part of World Car Free Day on September 22.
To coincide with the occasion, a free family-friendly festival including live music and entertainment, stalls and workshops will take place at Wavertree Playground, known locally as The Mystery, on Sunday, September 24.READ MORE: Forgotten moments show life and people in Liverpool 67 years ago The day begins with a junior park run at 9am, followed by market stalls opening at 9:30 and a 'run a mile' event at 11am. Live music performances will occur every hour from 10:30am until 3:30 with arts and crafts, family activities, bike sessions, treasure hunts and more throughout the day.
In support of World Car Free Day, Dr Bike sessions where local bike mechanics will give your bike the once over are available from 11am to 3pm alongside free bike maintenance workshops with Energise Cycles between 12pm and 2pm. The event ends with an all-ages bike ride to the new urban parklet at Mann Island. The family bike ride leaves on National Cycle Route 56 to the town centre at 4pm which you can register for here.
