A family is demanding answers after a young man's death was ruled a suicide, but they believe he was murdered and point to a possible cover-up.

A young man's death, ruled a suicide by the city's medical examiner, is now being contested by his family who believe he was murdered. Balaji's mother, Poornima Ramarao, not only disputes the suicide finding but also alleges that media and local government are involved in a cover-up. According to Ramarao, her 26-year-old son was proud to have come forward with allegations that his employer, OpenAI, was engaging in unethical practices.

She questions how depression could lead to suicide when Balaji was so passionate about his work. Ramarao and her husband, Balaji Ramamurthy, hired a forensic pathologist to conduct a second autopsy, which she claims reveals that Balaji was shot in the back of the head. However, Ramarao also accuses the secondary pathologist of collusion with the original medical examiner. Their pursuit of answers has also led them to hire and subsequently fire a lawyer who they allege was manipulating the narrative. Ramarao has also accused a reporter of demanding a comprehensive investigation into Balaji's death. Experts suggest that grief and cultural differences may be contributing to the family's strong claims, as they are immigrants from a foreign country unfamiliar with local procedures and norms
