Emergency services in several provinces are dealing with the aftermath of heavy rains, localised flooding and car crashes.
In the Eastern Cape, several residents of Port St Johns have been evacuated from their homes.Some areas in Durban have also had to be evacuated.
“Young children, as they go to school, need to stay away from drainage systems, river streams so that we can be able to prevent drowning incidents. As emergency services, we will remain on high alert, monitoring low-lying areas to make sure that we can be able to respond to any emergency which might occur.”
