Three families of people who died on the waiting list for liver transplants at Memorial Hermann Hospital have taken legal action against the surgeon accused of altering patient data.

On Wednesday, attorney Tommy R. Hastings of Hastings Law Firm P.C. held a press conference at the firm’s main office in The Woodlands. He explained the intention of the restraining order against Dr. J. Steve Bynon Jr., who has been accused of manipulating patient data in a manner that may have prevented eligible patients from receiving transplants.

“We filed a temporary restraining order against Dr. Steven Bynon, because obviously we have great concerns ,” Hastings said. “Anyone that has been accused of manipulating data in a transplant program is obviously who could manipulate data on a telephone, in their email or in their personal notes. We feel that data should be preserved by a court order while this investigation is pending.”

If has any integrity as a physician, he’s going to openly tell everyone what happened here so people can have at least some sort of healing.”

According to Hastings, there will be a court hearing at the Harris County Ancillary Court tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. to determine whether the restraining order will be granted.Michael is a Kingwood native who loves shooting hoops, visiting local breweries and overreacting to Houston sports.
