Ella Purnell as Lucy from Fallout Season 2
Although Netflix may not be everyone's go-to streamer for the best sci-fi shows, it still boasts its fair share of brilliant genre productions. Stranger Things is one such major example, easily the most popular sci-fi series on the platform, having received critical acclaim throughout its run.
However, by critics' standards, there's an even better show that is arguably more excellently made but isn't as influential as Stranger Things and has fewer seasons. That masterpiece, though having concluded over a year ago, is suddenly back in the spotlight. Boasting a perfect 100% critics' rating on Rotten Tomatoes, this Netflix hit aired from November 2021 to November 2024, ending after two well-crafted seasons. It is another popular video game adaptation that did tremendously well with viewers, with many considering it one of the best ever. Titled Arcane, one of Netflix's highest-rated series, it was created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, based on Riot Games' League of Legends. Less than two years after its epic finale, Arcane is back in the streaming conversation after having made it to the VOD charts. This week has seen sci-fi adventure among the top 5 most popular titles on the Apple TV store, with today's reports showing it in fifth place, right above Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone. Starring in Arcane are Hailee Steinfeld, Ella Purnell , Kevin Alejandro, Katie Leung, Jason Spisak, Toks Olagundoye, and Harry Lloyd. Other Sci-Fi Shows To Watch Out for on Netflix Besides Arcane and Stranger Things, both of which, as fans know, are over, there are a few more intriguing sci-fi shows for Netflix subscribers to watch out for. Among these is Three Body Problem, the sci-fi adaptation created by Game of Thrones' duo David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, as well as Alexander Woo. The show is expected to return with a second season this year, though an exact premiere date has yet to be announced. Another similarly interesting title is One Piece, which is primarily fantasy but incorporates sci-fi elements. Season 2 of the live-action adaptation premiered on March 10, 2026, and is currently the #1 series on Netflix; the show has since been renewed for a third run.
