Those heading to San Francisco from the East Bay Tuesday can expect severe delays after high winds downed a tree near the Yerba Buena Tunnel.

The tree fell around 3:15 p.m. and blocked three westbound lanes on the right side of the roadway, leaving traffic at a standstill. CHP officers and Caltrans crews responded and are currently working on clearing the road. An hour after the incident, CHP reported that one of the lanes had been cleared and was allowing traffic through.
The San Francisco Fire Department is also at the scene to help clear debris, CHP said in a tweet, alongside photos of the downed tree."If possible, please avoid area & expect delays," the agency wrote.San Francisco Fire Department is also on-scene and assisting in the removal of the fallen tree.
