After a warm start to the week, cooler fall weather and welcome rain are on the way

The forecast high for Tuesday was 98° with sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 90s expected for the rest of the week. Mostly sunny and warm weather will continue for the start of the week with highs climbing into the low 90s through Tuesday.
But a pattern change is coming by the middle of the week as a potent storm system pushes into the region. The highest coverage of rain is expected Wednesday evening, through the night into Thursday morning, as a cold front moves across North Texas. The severe weather threat, while low, is not completely zero. But for the most part, this will be a beneficial rain, with totals expected to reach two inches or more across much of the area by the time it ends Thursday afternoon.
