In 1977, North Olmsted High School student Yvonne Regler, 17, vanished from a Lorain Road gas station where she was working. Fairview Park police continue their work to find out what happened to her.
“This is our most prevalent cold case we have as far as a missing person or a homicide,” Police Chief Paul Shepard said.

Sometime between 1:30 and 2:05 p.m., three people said they went to the gas station and there was no worker there. The door was unlocked and someone’s purse was sitting behind the counter, but none of the people thought anything of it and didn’t call police.
“Over the years, there have been several people of interest,” Shepard said. “The problem we have is we don’t have her. We can speculate what happened to her, but until we have her our persons of interest just say she ran away or had nothing to do with it because we have very little physical evidence.
“Everybody is doing what they need to be doing on the police side. On my side, all I can do is hope that there will be closure.”
