Fairhope resident Stephanie Sullivan described what her family in the Asheville area told her Hurricane Helene has done.
) - North Carolina is one of the places that was hit hard with significant damage from Hurricane Helene.She told us she has several family members who still live there, including her daughter who is a freshman at Appalachian State University.“It’s an overload of emotion just realizing the amount of destruction and devastation that happened that I don’t think anyone was prepared for,” Sullivan said.
Sullivan said her daughter who attends Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina was able to evacuate safely on Saturday night. “My daughter’s classes at Appalachian State are canceled this week and I don’t foresee her going back anytime soon,” she said.When I spoke to Sullivan, she told me she was on her way to pick her mother up in Atlanta who was also evacuating due to hurricane damage.Unfortunately, that has not been the story for everyone.Copyright 2024 WALA.
