A home invasion and armed robbery shut down two schools in Fairfield , Connecticut , as police responded to the incident Thursday morning.Officers were called just before 2:30 a.m. to the home on Candlewood Road.
McKinley Elementary School and Fairfield Warde High School were closed out of an abundance of caution and a shelter-in-place order was lifted at around 9 a.m., after police apprehended a total of four suspects, including one who allegedly took an Uber to Hamden, about 25 miles northeast of Fairfield.Police said while residents of the home were shaken, no one was physically injured. Police have released few additional details and would not answer a specific inquiry about a broken window and splotches of orange paint. All the facts and circumstances remain under investigation.Neighbors said they heard the chaos unfold.'All I know is they said to lock down and I didn't leave my house until they said it was okay,' resident Maggie Salomon said.'I heard the police radios in the street and I looked out and saw all the cars on the street.' resident Bruce Stern added.Investigators said it was an isolated incident, and there was no threat to the public.
