The Alaska State Troopers and the non-profit Santa's Helpers teamed up to provide hundreds of toys to families in need this holiday season.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Alaska State Troopers joined the non-profit Santa’s Helpers Tuesday, and collected toys to donate to families in need within the Fairbanks area for the holiday season.
The non-profit and AST have partnered together for years to bring families hundreds of toys each year. “The members of the community here in Fairbanks came out in droves with cash donations,” said Cpt. Eric Spitzer, head of the AST station in Fairbanks. Those donations were used to buy toys at Walmart with the help of Santa Claus and the members of Santa’s Helpers.
From toys for babies to games for teenagers, hundreds of toys filled the police vehicles and were taken to Fairbanks Nissan to be sorted.He says the importance of the event is to get toys to all kids no matter what their economic situation is.
