Burgess emphasized that the inclusion of these positions is intended to bolster literacy programs and provide enhanced behavioral support, particularly within the elementary schools. The district's current budget draft also incorporates several other elements, including the addition of 33 full-time classroom teachers and six full-time music teacher positions, demonstrating a commitment to enriching the educational environment.\To accommodate the enhancements in the recommended budget, the board has increased its funding request from the borough by $3 million, bringing the total to $65.7 million. Burgess pointed out that the recommended budget is submitted before the district has a full understanding of its income from either the state or the borough, as the funding processes are still underway.
