A job fair will be held Thursday, February 24 at the State of Alaska Fairbanks Regional Office Building.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Starting Thursday, February 24, a job fair will be held at the State of Alaska Fairbanks Regional Office Building, otherwise known as the “FROB.” On the last Thursday of each month, which will continue through May 2022, employers and job seekers are encouraged to partake in the job fairs.
The job fairs will be industry specific, so each month will be different. This month, the job fair will consist of community and social service employers. The March fair will host construction, labor and transportation industries. April will be all about tourism and hospitality, and the last fair will be held in May, which the type of employers for this event have yet to be determined.
Missy Lizotte, Regional Manager at the Fairbanks Job Center, mentioned the jobs hosted at the fair will be jobs ranging from entry level experience to positions where future employees would need a master’s degree. Lizotte noted, “There is going to be a merit of employers who have a large range of jobs available.” Ten to twelve employers are already signed up and ready to go for the first event.
As a tip, Lizotte noted, all job seekers should do their best to bring a resume with them. The fair lasts from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome to visit beforehand to perfect and print off their resumes for the event. “We have computers available, we have staff available to help for individual services,” added Lizotte. The “FROB” is regularly open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“We’re really looking forward to being that conduit of being able to get people here and physically present to talk to employees again,” says Lizotte.
