Chris Tweddle, an associate professor of mathematics at the school, said Friday issues such as salaries and caseloads for faculty who are student advisers have been major sticking points.Tweddle, who has been at GSU since the fall of 2013, said contract negotiations are far from the point where the union is declaring an impasse or might ask membership to authorize a strike.
The three-year contract teachers are now working under provided raises of 2% in the 2019-20 school year, 2.75% in the 2020-21 school year and 3% in the 2021-22 school year, Tweddle said. Carlos Ferran, interim union president, said the union does not “see a path forward without bringing in a mediator.”
