Boeing 's Starliner Spacecraft has left two astronauts stranded in space for another six months after NASA announced it'll be too risky for them to get back to Earth on the Boeing Starliner they rode in on.

The astronauts, Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams were supposed to only be in space for a little over a week but will now be stuck there until they hitch a ride with a SpaceX crew in February.and issues with the spacecraft's reaction control thrusters. After months of troubleshooting, NASA and the crew decided it wasn't safe for Wilmore and Williams to stay in the Starliner. They're currently at the International Space Station and will remain there. According to NASA, SpaceX wasn't able to get Williams and Wilmore back sooner because there were limited options. SpaceX’s capsule that’s currently parked at the space station is reserved for the four astronauts who’ve been there since March. They're coming back in late September, but it would be unsafe to squeeze two more people into the capsule. Wilmore and Williams will have to wait for the next SpaceX taxi that will head back to Earth in February. There have also been reports that the Starliner’s spacesuits are incompatible with the SpaceX capsule that these astronauts are supposed to ride back on in February. NASA confirmed that it is considering flying Wilmore and Williams back without a suit but a safer solution also on the table is to just fly two spacesuits up with the SpaceX crew when they leave in September.to Boeing for the Starliner program, and they’ve already shelled out most of that funding. They gave SpaceX about $2.6 billion. Boeing's Starliner program has had years of delays,As for SpaceX, they’ve been dominating the market. They launched more than 80 missions of their Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy Rockets this year, compared to the four launches from their rival, United Launch Alliance, and 10 launches from their other rival, Rocket Lab USA Inc.
