Two boxers who were disqualified from competing against women in the World Championships were allowed to fight in the female category at the Olympics.

During the 1936 Olympics, rumors circulated that some of the top female runners were actually men. Though no tests were conducted at the time, the issue resurfaced about 50 years later when one of those athletes, who was killed during a bank robbery, was found to have "ambiguous genitalia and abnormal sex chromosomes" during an autopsy -- now known as DSD.new guidelines that emphasize inclusion while also recognizing the need for fairness and safety in competition.
