The claim that former President Barack Obama wanted to swap the national anthem for another song is false and has been debunked several times since 2008.

Barack Obama leads the list with more than 119 million followersThe post claims Obama made negative comments about the flag that aired on an episode of"Meet the Press" on Sept. 7, 2008. However a review ofshows that the particular episode featured then-Sen. Joe Biden and Thomas Friedman of the New York Times, not Obama.
The post alleges Obama stated, "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides. There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression... The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing."
It goes on to quote Obama as saying the national anthem should be swapped for something"less parochial and less bellicose," such as" ," a song featured in advertising campaigns for Coca-Cola. It also claims Obama said the flag should be redesigned"to better offer our enemies hope and love."
