Facebook will spend $1 billion per year with 'diverse suppliers' starting in 2021
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg speaks at Georgetown University, Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019, in Washington.Facebook will spend $1 billion per year with "diverse suppliers" starting in 2021 and "every year thereafter,"It will also invest $100 million in Black-owned businesses this year, including $25 million for Black content creators and $75 million to support Black-owned businesses and nonprofits "that serve the Black community.
Facebook's announcement comes as it and other major tech companies face increasing pressure from employees, civil rights activists, and other outside groups to do more to combat system racism.
