The app, which has come under scrutiny in other markets when it launched back in 2017, arrives in the Philippines.

The new messaging app, designed for kids 13 and under, allows children to communicate with other children, following certain restrictions and features designed to help a parent supervise their children.

The app was first launched in 2017 in the US and other markets when it was met with opposition, seen by some as an opportunity for Facebook to introduce the brand and the concept of social media at an early age. In spite of the protections that Facebook promoted, there were questions over how the app – something that was explicitly being promoted as a kids’ app – would use children’s data.

Based on this policy, Facebook will not be the only one that may have access to the data. There will be third-party service providers which may also receive the information.
