Roger McNamee's former estate is now the most expensive listing in Woodside.
According to the Compass listing, the property was built in 1928 and sits on a 4.6-acre lot. The estate was designed by architect Gardner Dailey, and includes redwood walls, five fireplaces, a professional recording studio and even a"model train room." Photos of the property show expansive lawns and a maze-like rose garden. The grounds also include an outdoor train track"for adults and children," the listing states.
McNamee and his wife bought the estate for $6.6 million in 1999, according to Real Deal. They then bought two other properties in the immediate area in 2012 and 2015, each roughly 3.4 acres. The Compass listing states that an adjacent parcel and residence are also for sale but provides no other details about the additional property.
McNamee co-founded the venture capital firm Elevation Partners alongside U2's Bono in 2004. In 2010, the firm acquired 1% of Facebook for $90 million. Along with co-founding the private equity firm Silver Lake Partners, McNamee is known for his music career as a bassist, guitarist and vocalist for the band Moonalice. His musical moniker is"Chubby Wombat Moonalice."
