BREAKING: Face masks should be warn on London buses and tubes, TfL announces
have advised that all passengers should now wear face masks when using buses and trains in the capital.
There will also be ‘rigorous cleaning regimes’, hand sanitiser points along the network and ‘operational changes at stations to help keep everyone safe’, the document continued. Anyone leaving their homes by bus, train, tube or in a taxi is expected to wear a mask, carry hand sanitiser and wash their hands before and after their journey. TfL workers will be given face masks by their employers.
In a statement, Sadiq Khan said: ‘Coronavirus has had a profound impact on public transport in London and will continue to do so long into the future. All public transport providers face huge challenges around social distancing – with the number of passengers TfL can safely accommodate on Tubes and buses reduced by over 85%.
