Joburg Super Kings captain Faf du Plessis registered the first-ever Betway SA20 century as his side beat Durban’s Super Giants by eight wickets at the Wanderers. ECRSportsWave Betway SA
Du Plessis was at his imperious best as he outscored the rest of the Super Kings batters to finish their chase on 113 not out off just 58 deliveries. His innings included eight sixes and eight fours as he guided his team home with five balls to spare.
Captain Quinton de Kock fell for six in the fourth over before Mayers was caught and Wiaan Mulder bowled in the next over which left the Super Giants at 46 for three inside the powerplay. Keemo Paul scored eight which included a maximum before he became the fifth Super Giants wicket to fall with the total on 132 at the end of 16 overs.
The reply from the home side saw Du Plessis take charge as the opening partnership ended on 157 of which Reeza Hendricks made 45. This highlighted the dominance shown by Du Plessis throughout the chase.
