LSU in control of its college football playoff future? The Pac-12 firmly in the playoff mix with one-loss Oregon? That's just some of the topics that DanWolken + PaulMyerberg discuss on this week's College Football Fix.
The second College Football Playoff rankings of the season are out and there's an interesting situation developing with No. 7 LSU. The Tigers have two losses overall, but they control their destiny to reach the SEC championship game. A win there against No. 1 Georgia could make for a strong case to be part of the semifinals. Should that scenario unfold, it would come at the expense of Tennessee, which already has a dominating win at LSU this season.
Alabama and Clemson fell on the same day and both dropped out of the top six. It's the first time that's happened in the nine years of the rankings.
The Pac-12 is firmly in the playoff mix and Oregon will have a strong case should the Ducks finish with just one loss. Also lurking is Southern California. Even though the Trojans don't have a strong resume or defense, they do have Caleb Williams, who might be the best quarterback in college football.
Dan Wolken and Paul Myerberg address all these storylines and look ahead to the biggest matchups in Week 6 during the latest version of College Football Fix, the USA TODAY Sports weekly podcast that releases every Tuesday during the season.
