SAN DIEGO - Extreme heat will continue in inland San Diego County this week, with highs potentially hitting 122 degrees Tuesday in some areas, forecasters said.
"Areas west of the mountains will see a few degrees of cooling Sunday before the high strengthens by Tuesday and Wednesday, which will bring the hottest days of the week to the region," the NWS said. Officials advised people to"drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors."
-- exercise animals in early morning or evening to avoid prolonged exposure to the heat, and also skip strenuous runs or hikes
