“Get out your heavy winter coats and brace for some really extraordinary wind chills,” cautioned Daniel Huckaby, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Fort Worth. By Friday morning, the forecast calls for a high of 9 degrees at DFW Airport, while some outlying areas, like Collin County, could see temperatures as low as 4 or 5. With the wind chill, it will feel like 10-below. Those temperatures will stick around until at least Christmas Eve., in which the state’s power grid failed and thousands of Texans lost power for days.
This week’s front is not expected to deliver any snow or ice, though, good news for people traveling. A white Christmas is a rare sight in North Texas. The historical probability is less than 10 percent, according to the
