CLEVELAND, Ohio - There are extra police patrols Friday at a Catholic elementary school on the city’s East side, after two unrelated incidents this week involving laced edibles and a taser.

According to a letter from St. Jerome officials to parents, edibles laced with fentanyl were brought to school on Tuesday, Dec. 11. Principal Lyndsey Byrne and Co-Principal Katie Coan stated in the letter the student who brought the edibles onto property will no longer be attending St. Jerome and Cleveland police are handling the investigation.The student apparently did not enter a classroom, brandish the weapon or make any threats.

Cleveland police are also investigating that incident and the student will not be allowed to return to St. Jerome. Besides the additional police patrols, there will also be bag searches for all 7th and 8th grade students through the end of next week, according to the letter.Governor DeWine in Cleveland meeting with the Mayor and other City officials about Browns move to Brook Park.
