After a nearly 300-yard performance in the first half, Missouri's offense slowed in the second half but still did enough as the Tigers improved to 7-1 before their bye week.

After rain and sloppy play stifled Missouri's usually explosive offense last week, the unit turned in another mixed performance against South Carolina, this time minus the influence of the weather.

A big part of the offense's dominance was winning the battle in the trenches. MU's offensive line, recently named to the Joe Moore Award's midseason honor roll, bullied South Carolina's front seven.Running back Cody Schrader ran for 102 yards in the first half thanks to the gaping holes opened by Missouri's big guys. He regularly carried the ball over 5 yards before reaching a Gamecocks defender. The former Truman State transfer averaged 7.

"We just couldn't get a rhythm for some reason," Drinkwitz said after the game."We'll respond. We'll figure it out." The pass play reignited the offense, and Schrader picked up his second score of the day on an 11-yard scamper with 2:54 left in the game. Schrader was the primary bright spot for the offense, securing his fourth 100-yard game with a career-high 159 yards rushing on 26 carries.

Burden continued to struggle in the second half, hopping off the field following his 30-yard reception with 4:54 left in the game. The sophomore receiver did not return but still finished with 90 yards and a TD on four receptions.
