Police say they have previously responded to the Satanic Temple for threats and hate crimes.
Police and an FBI joint terrorism task force are investigating a bombing that happened at the Satanic Temple in Salem , Massachusetts , according to police. Salem police said that shortly before 4:15 a.m. Monday, a person threw an explosive device over the fence and onto a porch at the Satanic Temple , which is located at 64 Bridge St.No one was inside the building at the time, and the device, as well as the damage it caused, were not discovered until staff arrived at about 4 p.m., police said.
Salem police said the temple sustained damage to its front porch area from that fire, but no injuries were reported. In January, a Michigan man was arrested and charged in that state for planning to bomb the Satanic Temple. Salem police said they learned that at some point in November 2023, Terpstra had traveled to Salem — possibly for planning purposes. The Satanic Temple describes itself as a religious organization that pushes for the strict separation of church and state.
