Artist Athi-Patra Ruga explores the archives and representation of those left out of them in his bold new work debuting online this week.Interior Exterior, Dramatis Personae A Saga in Two Parts is the latest in a series of sagas designed by artist Athi-Patra Ruga Pictures Athi-Patra RugaFor many of us, the past few weeks have been a journey of uncertainty, to say the least.

But less known, yet at the heart of Alice and the country’s intellectual revolution, is the work of its Lovedale Press, a nearly 200-year-old printing press. It was among the first to publish work by this new vanguard. These folkloric and other theological questions are delved into more deeply in the second part of the exhibition – The Interior/Exterior saga.

But over time, and today facing the same pressures as many in the fading printing industry, the Lovedale Press has almost completely shut its operations. “I grew up reading the works from the press, and now I ask myself what I can do in my power to somehow reinstitutionalise it, and centralise it, in modes of storytelling that could be relevant to my generation, or to my community.”
