Netflix unveils the first trailer for Exploding Kittens, the animated tabletop adaptation starring Lucifer's Tom Ellis as God trapped in a cat's body.

Designed and created by The Oatmeal's Matthew Inman and Elan Lee & Shane Small, the card game has players trying to clear their hand of as many humorous cards as possible without getting an Exploding Kitten card, or use their sole Defuse card to stay in the game.
The video, as seen above, introduces viewers to the chaotic world of the animated tabletop adaptation, which will largely focus on Tom Ellis' God, who finds himself trapped in a cat's body on Earth and becomes known as Godcat. The trailer sees Godcat enjoying a variety of his creations, including bees and whack-a-mole games, while also having to contend with Sasheer Zamata's Devil, also trapped in a cat's body on Earth.
With his turn as Godcat in Exploding Kittens, Ellis not only continues his trend of portraying celestial beings, but offers a flip on his iconic role. The final seasons of Lucifer saw the eponymous ruler of Hell strive to become a meaningful king of Heaven, having undergone plenty of character growth since the 2016 pilot, but still was frequently up to his old tricks and lingering evil outbursts amid his attempts to be good.
