Growing concerns arise for our border security as the war between Israel and Hamas rages on.
Former Acting Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection Mark Morgan joined The National Desk’s Dee Dee Gatton to discuss the issue.
“I think this is a wake up call for everyone that what we've been saying for a long time, that border security is synonymous with national security. Another important thing about what's happening in Israel shows us that the global war on terrorism is alive and well,” he said. “The same Islamic ideology that carried out their tremendous attacks in Israel continue to want to do harm to the United States. So it’s very important that we realize exactly what's going on.
Morgan believes the challenge we’re facing in the U.S. is not a matter of if or when the threat is going to come to the country but securing our borders and knowing who and what is coming through. “We're intentionally allowing people in, we have no idea about the background, why others are sneaking into the country,” Morgan said. "So again, I think it's not a matter of if or when the threats coming. It's already here.”
