The exclusive One Night in Tokyo trailer has dropped, teasing what to expect from the upcoming romantic drama movie.
trailer for the forthcoming romance drama about two strangers who find an unlikely connection with each other despite having a language barrier. Described as being in the same vein as A24’s Past Lives, the film initially had a screening at the 2024 Cinequest Film Festival, where it won the Audience Award.
“Sam arrives in Tokyo to visit his expat girlfriend Becca — only to be broken up with as soon as he arrives at her apartment. Left wandering around Tokyo alone, he decides to cut his trip short and return to the U.S. the next day. Stuck for the night while he waits for his new flight, he makes an unlikely friend in Ayaka, who reluctantly takes him out with her friends,” reads the official synopsis.
The film is produced by Woodcock, Mathew Niemi, Topher Horn, Brandon Russell, and Griffin Scillian. Executive producers are Theodore Miller, Andrew Cantella, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, and Nikki Stier Justice. In addition to writing and director, Woodcock also handled the project’s cinematography and editing.
