A different farmworker shot at a home on the mushroom farm in July
HALF MOON BAY – The shooting rampage that killed seven people at two mushroom farms this week wasn’t the first time a disgruntled farmworker opened fire at his coworkers at one of the farms.
Martin Medina, 49 at the time, had been banging on the trailer door at 11:30 p.m. July 1, “screaming he was going to kill the victim and his family,” according to a summary of the case from San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe. Both, however, involved angry men, he said. The worker accused of killing seven and wounding an eighth on Monday is Chinese, 66-year-old Chunli Zhao, whose motive was still unclear Thursday. Medina is Hispanic.
