EXCLUSIVE: Chinese envoy hopes next PH leader will continue ‘friendly policy,’ keep momentum of PH-China ties

EXCLUSIVE: China is hopeful the next Philippine administration will continue working on improving ties between the two countries, which have seen a tremendous transformation under President Rodrigo Duterte

Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian said that the recent telesummit between Duterte and Chinese President Xi Jinping reflected the strong friendship between the two leaders. Both leaders affirmed that the improving bilateral relations should continue even beyond the outgoing President's term.

So far, China has finished 16 government-to-government projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program. “We’ve also provided PPEs , test kits, vaccines; we tried our best to help the Philippines. This kind of cooperation has become another milestone in our bilateral relations which had showcased the spirit of bayanihan,” the envoy further explained.The Chinese ambassador said that differences in terms of policy in the South China Sea is unavoidable but both countries should always resort to peaceful discussions and resolutions, and in proper venues.
