They have often said that Buffalo was not a free-agent destination, and the Antonio Brown saga seemed to confirm those beliefs. But look at the elite players the Bills have signed as free agents, and you can see that the narrative is starting to change.
Share to twitterBUFFALO, NY - DECEMBER 30: Josh Allen #17 of the Buffalo Bills runs with the ball for a big gain in the third quarter during NFL game action against the Miami Dolphins at New Era Field on December 30, 2018 in Buffalo, New York. There is a sense of excitement for what the Buffalo Bills have done in free agency and what they could get in the draft April 25-27, and others in the NFL are catching on.
"I just wanted to be in place where I had more opportunities, and this seemed like the place to be," Beasley said. Adams referenced the Week 17 game against the Miami Dolphins that didn't get a lot of eyeballs. She reminded people that Allen"destroyed" the Dolphins in a 42-17 victory, going 224 yards through the air with two touchdown passes, while also running for 95 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bills also rebuilt their offensive line fast by adding several pieces in guards Spencer Long and John Felicano and tackle Ty Nsekhe. Perhaps the best addition was center Mitch Morse, who spent his first four years with the Kansas City Chiefs. During the 2018 season, he was ranked as the 13th best center by Pro Football Focus, but the seventh best in pass protection.
Questions have surrounded the signing of 35-year-old Frank Gore to a one-year, $2 million contract as a running back and the subsequent release of Chris Ivory. This will no doubt be Gore's swan song, but does the legendary running back have enough in the tank to be a meaningful backup to LeSean McCoy?
