While sun-lovers will enjoy sunny weather until next Thursday, this will be interrupted by cloudy conditions on most days

Forecasters have predicted some parts of the UK will bask in glorious sunshine next week as continental Europe swelters in temperatures of up to 42C. On Tuesday, August 20 temperatures in southern Spain will skyrocket with Seville reaching a whopping 38.4C, Madrid hitting highs of 35.6C and Badajoz reaching a sweltering 40.1C at 3pm.

Rising heat in temperatures in Spain and Portugal should be good news for some Brits, according to The Express, but it looks like the heatwave will miss Nottinghamshire. From Wednesday onwards parts of the South east and London could experience temperatures around 24-25 degrees, with London peaking at 25.7C on Thursday, August 22 and 28.1C on Friday, August 23.

Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds are also reportedly set to face temperatures around 26 degrees, as we move into next weekend. The Met Office, explaining the picture for the UK next week, said: "Temperatures overall will be close to average, but the chance of short-lived very warm conditions in the south and east at times."However, the picture in Nottingham is a bit cooler, with the national weather service reporting that the mercury will remain in the low 20s over the next week.

The highest temperatures residents will experience in the next week are 24C on Thursday, August 15 and 23C on Monday, August 19, according to Met Office experts. The meteorologists explained that while Nottingham residents would not be able to enjoy tropical temperatures, there will be high levels of Ultraviolet and pollen.

Monday, August 12, was the hottest day of 2024 so far, with temperatures reaching 34.8C in Cambridge. This was caused by the jet stream bringing hot southerly winds from southern Europe and North Africa to the UK.
