Former Pittsburgh Steelers outside linebacker Markus Golden officially announced his retirement on Wednesday.

The Steelers had signed Golden just a week before that game on August 1, a sign that the team wanted to boost its outside linebacker depth once and for all. However, Golden did not practice on the Thursday before the team’s first game, so he decided to walk away from the game.who helped him reach the NFL.
“Football has always been more than just a sport to me, I’ve officially retired from the NFL after playing the game I’ve loved all my life. I feel truly blessed to have been able to live out the dreams and goals I set for myself as a kid,”Golden played just one season with the Steelers as the team’s third outside linebacker. He started Pittsburgh’s playoff game against theGolden helped mentor rookie Nick Herbig, who is set for a second-year breakout with the team.
