Ongoing coverage of the federal corruption trial of former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder
At the behest of Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily Glatfelter, Householder read aloud an April 19, 2019, text sent by Juan Cespedes, a FirstEnergy Solutions lobbyist who pleaded guilty to racketeering. He told a political consultant retained by Generation Now that he’d wire the nonprofit another $1.5 million from the company tomorrow.
Glatfelter also asked Householder about records showing how Cleveland businessman Tony George – a close friend of Jones who joined Householder on the flight to Washington, D.C. – booked Householder’s hotel room in the city on Jan. 4, 2017, at 11:26 a.m. One minute later, George booked Dowling’s room in the same hotel.
Meanwhile, phone records show Householder and Dowling called one another seven times during the weekend .
