Former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas had plenty of Derek Carr thoughts on his mind Sunday after an injury to Chris Olave.
, Thomas, who remains unsigned after getting released in the offseason, went on a six-post rant on X about the shortcomings of Carr — signed by the Saints to be their franchise quarterback following nine seasons with the Raiders — and his experiences while they overlapped in New Orleans.
“Dude tried to lie and say I was jealous of them making Chris WR1 whole time he can’t even get him a decent ball,” Thomas Thomas also criticized Carr for doing the “same s–t” and said the Saints already fired coaches who couldn’t cover up his flaws, while adding that even when Carr helped Davante Adams was a first-team All-Pro wideout in 2022 in Las Vegas, the pair needed 180 targets in order for that to happen.
After he was taken to a local hospital in Charlotte, the Saints announced that Olave had been discharged, and his brother, Josh,Olave, who ESPN reported switched his helmet this season to a Guardian Cap intended to mitigate the potential damage of a head injury, had collected 387 receiving yards and a touchdown entering New Orleans’ Week 9 game. He missed a loss to the Broncos two weeks ago with a concussion — which at the time marked the second of his career.
Thomas topped 1,000 receiving yards in each of his first four NFL seasons, but he logged just 20 games across the next four seasons, managed just 448 yards and a touchdown in 2023 and was released as a post-June 1 cut in March.What happened to the golden age of NFL tight ends?Getty Images
