Man United striker Marcus Rashford was accused by some pundits of diving to gain the Reds a penalty against Nottingham Forest
VAR was right not to overturn Manchester United's penalty against Nottingham Forest because of the contact made on Marcus Rashford in the area, according to a former Premier League referee.
Likewise, Forest felt they were hard done by after the game but former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher explained why the referee came to the right decision at Old Trafford. He told Sky Sports' Ref Watch: "I don't think it would have been overturned the minute the referee gives it. Forest argued Willy Boly was covering and would have got across to stop the Portuguese midfielder but once again Gallagher was adamant the officials had come to the right call. "It is a foul, I don't think Boly would get across because he is square on," he added.
